A special film, the kind that stays with you days after watching it. The word that comes to mind when I think about this movie is, rich. Each scene is so perfectly constructed and full of so much heart and soul; the characters are fully realized, well developed, and perfectly portrayed by an amazing cast. Payne's direction is brilliant, this is easily his best film he's ever done. And the script is fun, charming, interesting, real, and resonant.

It took me two times of watching this and also seeing Hangover 2 for me to truly appreciate this movie. It is a great buddy vacation film as a last horrah. This is a more educated 'Hangover'. Now while it might not reach the laughs of 'Hangover (1)'; it brings a mature energy to the table that grabs you in different ways. This is a smart film and a fun watch. I look forward to watching it again.

Enjoyable and well written indie film about a pair of old friends dealing with impending middle age in wildly differing but equally dysfunctional ways. Probably far easier to relate to for a male audience as every guy of a certain age knows a version of Thomas Maden Church's character, but it's expertly done.

Alexander Payne injects his characteristic off-color wit into an inspiring and life-affirming journey of two grown men rediscovering themselves. Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church make a great comic duo (Haden Church often steals scenes with his line delivery,) and the film finds a great line between comedy and drama.

I liked the comedy and drama of this film, just not as much as everyone else.

I found myself more intrigued by the subtleties of wine tasting, vineyards and pinot noir grapes than in the actual characters and the storyline.

A couple of middle aged slackers living with nothing but disappointment end up on a bachelors week sampling wine in California in this affable and entertaining comedy. A leisurely stroll which introduces us to characters who are not totally likable yet illicit a genuine interest in their affairs, Sideways is a meandering journey dealing with human weakness and emotion. Scoring points for honesty and perceptiveness, this is a movie which won't blow you away but will stay in your minds eye for days after.
