An underrated follow up to the quite good Underworld franchise based of the World of Darkness and the Kindred series. All the key elements are here. It plays like a chase/survival film with the protagonists always on the run from an unstoppable evil. The action is very well done and the acting is great.

Working together to expose the truth about their bloodlines, vampire warrior Selene and werewolf hybrid Michael learn the back story to the ongoing conflict between the patrician Death Dealers and the barbarous Lycans. This movie was gory fun that not a lot of people liked this movie and I don't know why ? .

The story revolves around Selene (Kate Beckinsale), three vampire elders (Markus, Viktor, and Amelia), William Corvinus (Brian Steele) and Michael (Scott Speedman). Plot and storytelling was confusing while the film overall overlong because of the action. Flashback was somewhat overdone which adds to the chaos. Special effects and fight scenes were good. Beckinsale gives a more sincere performane here. Underworld: Evolution has its moments, overall it was just alright.

The only major flaws of the first were the slower pace and ton of exposition/needless backstory. All of that is gone here. This sequel ramps up the pace and action. Much less gunplay is used in favor of (mostly) practical vampire on werewolf brawling. I very much enjoyed that aspect. The story and characters are still not that interesting, but the awesome bloodshed makes up for it. A surprisingly more entertaining sequel.

The ferocious and stylish action sequences that made the first film so Matrix-esque get bogged down by too much exposition and dialogue in this sequel. There are still some intense and entertaining action setpieces, but the majority of the film is disjointed and unevenly paced.

HARDCORE GOTHIC. It's not limited to the Prius. Even MICHAEL (SCOTT SPEEDMAN) is def a vamp-wolf hybrid. Three centuries of feud between the two species. What made it an overkill was when BECKINSALE and SPEEDMAN crossed the line. Well, what do you expect? It's the age of the hybrids! We'll have to find a better term for this inter-species co-habitation. But KATE BECKINSALE's tantalizing crystal-blue eyes, her wet-looking tight bodysuit made this whole movie worth watching.

If you enjoyed the first Underworld, this keeps right on the fast-paced track with the action, the outfits and still bringing the best vampire on werewolf fun. Not as good as the original, but good enough to be enjoyable.
