Directed by Spike Lee and written by James McBride, based on McBride's novel of the same name. The film is set during World War II, in fall of 1944 in Tuscany and in the winter of 1983 in New York City and Rome. The film stars Derek Luke, Laz Alonzo, Michael Ealy, and Omar Benson Miller, and co-stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Valentina Cervi, and John Turturro. What a pretentious and poor movie. In my oppinion i never think Spike Lee as a great director, but this movie is too much for my patience!A horrible screenplay with an horrible soundtrack and a real festival of bad performances make the act of watching this movie an exercise of patience.Argh!

While not Spike Lee's best, I think it's better than most give it credit for. It could have moved a bit quicker, but overall I thought it worked well enough. It may not be earth-shattering, but it is worth a watch.

It's just as good as most Spike Lee joints. But, it's nothing spectacular. All in all, it's a pretty good movie.
