Sufficient mystery-drama thanks to Morgan Freeman playing the fictitious detective Alex Cross and the ever reliable Michael Wincott as the sinister kidnapper. There’s one two many twists in the last half, but that’s expected for these kinds of thrillers.

All these crime thrillers start to run together after awhile. Even though Morgan Freeman brings his usual talent along, there just isn't enough to differentiate this from similar films to make it that memorable. If you've seen one, you've seen them all.
