2014's Marvel guardians of the galaxy are a space adventure films with a unique spin as it has 70s-80s. All the favorite famous music back then. The story is about a band of misfits who meet each other in prison where they have this orb that can destroy the whole galaxy as we know it. One person wants the orb name Ronan the destroyer to be a god and destroy the galaxy. The band of misfits is an earthling named peter quill aka star lord (although no one knows he star lord) that got kidnapped by a group of people called ravenger's who steal for greed and pleasure. Gamora is not an earthling but from another world where another person named Thanos who is what called a Titan takes her and makes her a weapon as results. Drax is a fun goofball who is great for strength but not for brains as he …

"Guardians Of The Galaxy" by Yojimbo

A small boy abducted from Earth by alien raiders grows up to become a galactic freebooter of dubious morals and falls in with a motley collection of bounty hunters and outlaws out to stop the subjugation of the galaxy by a powerful religious zealot.
Guardians Of The Galaxy is a tongue-in-cheek space opera featuring a group of morally flexible characters in a desperate attempt to ape the charm of Indiana Jones and Captain Jack Sparrow. Unfortunately these kinds of lovable rogues have to be, well, lovable for the story to work but thanks to the hackneyed and episodic plotting, juvenile attempts at humour and unlikeable characters it's very hard to care about any of it. The resulting film is all flash and no substance and resembles little more than a rather adolescent cartoon that's just …

Space Western

Marvel's big gamble is a winning hand after all.

2014's surprise smash hit "Guardians of the Galaxy" is an infectiously rousing, exciting, and entertaining superhero blockbuster with an appropriately colorful cast, dazzling visuals, and the kind of thrills you'd expect to find in any decent space opera.
Chris Pratt delivers a capably charismatic performance as the intergalactic outlaw Star-Lord who runs afoul of many other such criminals before finding himself aligned with the likes of assassin Gamora, juggernaut Drax, along with the oddball duo Rocket Raccon and Groot.
Director James Gunn is notorious for his off-the-wall humor and outlandish visual style which compliments the retro science fantasy trappings that GOTG's story takes place in but also makes it much easier for audiences to get onboard with. The production design, the …

Marvel's New Team Scores a Win

'Guardians of the Galaxy' is a fresh new turn in the overarching 'Avengers' cinematic universe. It stands out as the most unique, simply for it's space setting and huge array of colorful characters. The world feels massive. It becomes a lot to take in, at first. Though, it doesn't get bogged down by too much exposition at the start of the story. Explanations are evenly placed throughout so that you learn more about the individuals as the story progresses. There are ties to the 'Avengers' universe, but they are used only sparingly and effectively as to not invade too much of the plot. 'Guardians' works terrifically as a standalone piece because of this. Our five heroes are the cause of most of the disorder. Their eventual alliance is justified through their shared grief of past …

Saviors of the Summer

Guardians of the Galaxy is hands-down the most fun I've had in the theater all year. It's a film that knows exactly what it wants to be: action, humor and just enough heart to hold everything together - while being tied in to the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite featuring a talking raccoon and a tree that speaks one line - the characters work out surprisingly well - certainly better than the so-called "humans" in the latest Transformers movie. With a sequel already in the works, it will be interesting to see how this disparate group of "heroes" crosses paths with the, well, somewhat more normal, Avengers.
We open with a young Peter Quill trying to come to grips with the death of his mother. After a tearful exit, he runs away, only to be abducted by a group of pirates - space …

Very Much its Own Entity

Guardians of the Galaxy is clearly a crowd pleaser, but it’s not quite the epic action comedy that one might hope for. The movie is fun, but it feels imbalanced. The humor is, well, humorous; unfortunately though its silly sensibilities often invade the movies more serious moments. I’m kind of split on it, in case you couldn’t tell. While the movie is certainly fun and entertaining, it’s probably just a little bit goofy and adorable for its own good.
This is more of a comedy then it is an action movie. Its comedy aspects seep into the rest of the movie like some kind of virus. It often underhand’s the points were the audience is supposed to be led to feel sad or inspired. How can anybody connect with these characters or the events around them when the movie itself …
