"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" by Yojimbo

Peter deals with his break up with Gwen Stacy by throwing himself into the role of crime-fighting superhero which sees him facing off against both a childhood friend and new CEO of Oscorp and an obsessive fan who is transformed into a being of pure electricity. Marvel's latest exercise in deja vu includes the familiar caharcter of The Green Goblin who featured heavily in the original Spider-Man trilogy as well as new face, Electro. Jamie Foxx's character is a welcome new addition from a franchise that seems to be solely inclined to replicate already existing stories, and his first appearance as an unwilling "villain" held hostage by unwanted powers that he cannot control actually works quite well. Unfortunately the script soon has him reverting to a vengeance obsessed …

If you remember the part in the trailer where Rhino is charging Spider-Man and he swings that manhole covering at Rhino? That's the closing shot! I shit you not!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 continues the current trend in comic book movies concerning world-building, Easter eggs. and sequel-baiting but at the same time it wants to tell a story about teen romance, corporate espionage, and whatever Sally Field has to say when she appears on-camera.
I'll confess that the 100+ trailers and tv spots did have me excited because of all the references to the Sinister Six, the disappearance of Spider-Man's parents, and how there was obviously so much more action. And there is! It opens up with a strangely moving plane crash sequence seemingly taken out of a Bond film. However while the action …

The Worst Spidey Flick Yet

I was pretty ticked off at the first Amazing Spider-man movie for recycling most of the plot from Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man, but That movie's great in comparison to its sequel. I should have been thankful for what I had.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a bad movie. It’s not all bad, but most of the things that are good about it are just things that were already in The Amazing Spider-Man 1. What’s new here is a bizarre tone, some incredibly shoddy screenwriting and an ending that ruins the core message of the movie, rendering the whole thing totally pointless.

I wish people would stop saying that these new Spider-Man movies are better then the other ones. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 exhibits most of the exact same problems people have with the first set of movies. There are …

Amazing Spider-Man 2 blahs

It's easy for a movie to fall short of expectations when the script isn't focused enough. It doesn't help that Max's (Electro) "normal" side played by Jamie Foxx, comes off as a failed shtick from some skit based comedy routine. And except for the CGI rendition of the electric special effects found the rest of the endeavor wanting it to be better. I expected Peter to be smarter than he shows. I expect the change in Harry to come from a little deeper place. I also expect people to clear the streets or at least duck for cover when missiles and gunfire erupts, not stand and gawk and cheer. Sure I love the attempt at banter that the comics had, but it just didn't seem to flow. Like it was.. scripted or something. In fact the whole movie comes across that way.
Having covered the bases …

The Mostly Adequate Spider-Man 2

Rebooting Spider-Man was a risky venture on its own - and I though The Amazing Spider-Man did an OK job of re-introducing the web slinging hero. However, after the origin story was (once again) out of the way, I was hoping things would pick up. Unfortunately, while Amazing Spider-Man 2 certainly throws a lot at you all at once - all the effort seems wasted as the movie moves a bit listlessly despite all the additional villains and it's missing a lot of the humor the original threw out at you opting for a more dramatic tone that mostly misses the mark.

We catch up with Peter Parker aka Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) just as he's about to graduate with classmate (and love interest) Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone). However, while she's giving her valedictorian speech, Spider-Man is after some …

Oh, boy. Amazing Spider-Man 2. I didn't think it would be this tough.
I now understand why everyone is so split about Spidey 2, because this one really was a bold move on the makers' parts. A very frisk, sudden and controversial move… But it wasn't bad.

I'm not exactly sure what I felt when I came out of the movie theater after watching it. Did I like this? Was that a good decision? I still partly have no idea what o hunk or assume of it, but, in my defense, it is very difficult to do so. So, sometimes the best place to start is where everyone is placing all the attention: what isn't good about it.

This is a long film. Extremely long. INSANELY long, in fact. There were many points where I thought the movie could have ended easily, but it pulled a Lord of the Rings on our asses …

Spider-Man Spins a Bigger Web

'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' is a jam-packed sequel full of characters, plots, sub-plots, action, comedy, and drama. There's never a dull moment. That's also what has governed the film's most notable criticism. Many feel that the film is 'overstuffed'. I would agree with that to a point. Some characters and their individual stories feel rushed because of the need to fit so much in all at once, combining elements to lay groundwork for the next few sequels and spinoffs. It does feel unnecessary when it causes the focus to not be maintained and the whole experience to seem disjointed narratively. Things don't flow smoothly together. And 'The Rhino' just ins't needed. However, that's my only major complaint. Everything else is top notch. The action/SFX contain much spectacle. The …

What a way to start the summer! The Amazing Spider Man 2 has raised the bar for this years summer blockbusters. It was everything I wanted it to be and more! Incredible special effects, exhilarating, rather suspenseful, action sequences, and further proof that Marc Webb should have directed the Spidey films way before Raimi did. Webb's best aspect is how he matches the thrills with truly endearing and at times heart breaking character driven moments. Garfield still reigns supreme as Spider-Man, seemingly born to play the role. While Emme Stone is equally solid, there moments together are once again some of the highlights. As for the villains Jamie Foxx is truly awesome as Electro, a very menacing and seemingly indestructible villain, while Dane DeHaan puts in yet another ragingly intense …

Enjoyable film.

We've always known that Spider-Man's most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It's great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield).

This movie is not as good as the first because most of the villains are just there just to push the plot along. The visual effect's in the movie are okay and the green goblin was just wasted in the movie and that was just a shame. The movie wants you to feel for Jamie Foxx character Electro but the movie fails at trying to make us feel for this guy, why can't there have a scene like in the Lego movie when are main hero has to talk to the villain with one …
