"Life was given to us a billion years ago. Now you know what to do with it."
Is Lucy the result of a scientifically based theory or should she join the club of "by chemicals mutated superheroes" like Spiderman, The Hulk and Captain America? We can remove the first item of the list because the theory of us only using 10% of our brains is complete nonsense. That would mean that there's 90% of unexplored territory for grabs in our upper chamber. The risk of brain injury shrinks. And would our skull not be too wide for that small part? Isn't it true that evolution slightly adjusts things so that there's an optimum use of certain features? The second item comes closer to the phenomenon of "Lucy", just that no startling changes were made. No flashy superheroes costume or superhuman …

"Lucy" by Yojimbo

An ordinary young woman who is press-ganged into becoming a mule for organised criminals is exposed to the effects of the experimental drug she is carrying and develops super-human powers. Luc Besson's latest is essentially Limitless crossed with Crank as Scarlett Johansson engages in a race against time to reclaim the drug and punish her abductors before her body burns out. Quite how gaining full control of your brain would turn you into a telekinetic, mind reading, gravity defying terminator is never quite clear, despite the fact that Morgan Freeman pops up at regular intervals to explain the plot to the audience. So yes, Lucy is very, very silly, even by Besson's standards and his pretensions to "exploring the nature of human evolution" which deliberately (and somewhat embarrassingly) …

interesting film about a woman who gets forced to smuggle drugs thats are put inside her it leaks and turns her into a super human who can use 100% of her brain. its like the recent johnny depp movie with that kind of idea but alot lot better . its very arty with the scenes of animals and the comparisons to humans and how we dont use all of our brains and makes you think what would happen if we could ,
thought provoking movie but with flaws. the bad guys are cliche and just wrong. the beginning is all too weird and rather silly they could of thought of abetter way to do it, action etc is all rather tame stuff.
hard to decide whether to place this movie as good or just ok, i will go with ok i think as its worth watching and i liked the idea i just wish everything round the character …

A strange movie. If I had known going in that it was Luc Besson, I would have expected it, but I thought it would just be a random action movie.
It was fun and pretty to look at. But 2/3 of the way through, I decided the only way I could deal with the movie was by deciding that the all the stuff about "using 100% of your brain power" was garbage, and that the drug scarjo took was actually just a really awesome club drug that made her hallucinate everything else in the movie.
it makes so much more sense that way, and magically solves all the plot holes and terrible, terrible fake science. the fake science is so bad that I couldn't take it even semi-seriously, but if I think of it as "this is what a really high scarjo thinks is science", it totally works. and all the hokey …

A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste

Lucy is a film that wants to be all things: an action film mixed with a hefty dose of sci-fi but also a philosophical drama that touches on everything from evolution and emotion to the connections around us. But in an effort to include everything, it is only half-successful in any of its endeavors. It's a film that wants to be deep and exciting (this is still a summer blockbuster) at the same time, but doesn't quite achieve either of its objectives.
We start out with Lucy (Scarlett Johansson) being conned into delivering a mysterious briefcase to Mr. Jang (Min-sik Choi). In short order, things go south, and Lucy finds herself at the mercy of a very ruthless drug kingpin - and becomes an unwitting drug mule for a blue powder dubbed CPH4 - her and three other men are sewn up with a bag …

Limitless Lucy

“Lucy” propels the ultimate drug and revenge fantasy to an evolutionary level when the movie’s heroine, played by the intoxicating Scarlett Johansson, is used twice over as a drug mule. First, her boyfriend recruits her to deliver a briefcase to a Korean kingpin known as Mr. Jang (Choi Min-sik) in a penthouse suite. Then Jang, with the aide of his henchmen, implants an experimental drug into Lucy’s stomach, along with several other would be mules, so that the drugs can be distributed to America, Paris, and elsewhere. The drug, taken in modest doses, induces a paramount euphoria in its user and promises to be the next hottest high to hit the streets. That is, if this bunch of gangsters can coin a catchy phrase to attach to it.
But as with all things macabre, the rules are …

Lucy is a matinee film.

This movie is like limitless with a female playing the main character. The story is about a woman in Taipei finds herself an unwilling drug mule - but the drugs start leaking into her system and she suddenly finds herself with incredible powers - and she's looking for revenge. Scarlett Johansson did a good job in this movie playing a smart ass that can kick-ass. But as the movie moved along and her character became unstoppable, I didn't care about her character because she can't get hurt or killed so when she in danger I didn't really care at all. The acting was okay and the action scenes wasn't bad and Morgan Freeman was playing himself again, overall Lucy is a Matinee movie with some problems and plot holes, but it is not a terrible film it's just okay. This movie has a lot of flaws …

Cerebral and Stupid

Lucy is probably not the movie audiences were expecting to see when they went to the theater this weekend (The movies going to finish the weekend with an estimated 44 million.) It’s weird, stylish, dark and thoughtful. But unfortunately it’s also really stupid.
I’m no scientist, but the leaps in logic here are distracting and unnecessary. This is strictly science fantasy, and the movie’s unfortunate decision to display the (flawed) logic behind the movies terrible hypothesis make this incredibly apparent to anyone who is willing to put even a modicum of thought into it.
I call the movies base concept (That someone could be able to control minds technology and even shape-shift if their cerebral capacity was reached,) the movies hypothesis, because it’s the only part …
