Aquaman Finally Makes the DCEU Fun
Chris Kavan - wrote on 01/07/2019
Whereas many of the previous DCEU films tried too hard to be dark and edgy - to their detriment as far as I'm concerned, James Wan turns Aquaman into a frantic, fun free-for-all, and the film is better for it. The film is visually stunning, even if it goes for over-the-top craziness a lot of the time.
The film wastes no time in setting up the story, showing how a young Arthur Curry came to be when a lighthouse keeper (Temuera Morrison) finds a Queen of Atlantis, Atlanna (Nicole Kidman), washed up during a fierce storm. Despite their much different worlds, the two find love - though this is short-lived as she is forced to return to Atlantis - and her arranged marriage - after a few short years in the world of man.
Jump forward and Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa - giving it his all) is a …

Aquaman (2018) Film Review

Much like 2017s Wonder Woman, James Wan’s Aquaman is an entertaining look at another of DC’s titans, demonstrating that even if the team-up films continue to struggle to find their feet, the more personal tales can still highlight why these characters are immortalised in pop culture.
The story is pretty much what we have come to expect of superhero origin films for now. Nolan did it before Marvel and they’ve been killing it for 10 years since, so it would’ve been hard to reinvent that wheel, so i’ll quickly get to the point. Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry who we already saw kick some serious ass in Justice League must go on a quest to become the true king of Atlantis. On the way there are a variety of forces that are trying to stop him, yadda yadda, …

A Tsunami sized blockbuster that delivers!

AQUAMAN is one of the strangest superhero movies ever made and it is also one hell of a crowd pleasing popcorn flick. It sucessfully combines action, adventure, fantasy, romance, and even horror in spectacular fashion!
Director James Wan (The Conjuring; Furious 7) handles the gargantuan scale with gusto, unafraid to embrace the absolute absurdity that comes with a superhero that can talk to fish. Atlantis is a glistening metropolis of aquatic creatures, skyscrapers made of lava and coral, and technology that would feel at home in a Star Wars movie. Aquaman battles sea monsters that look like the offspring of the Xenomorph while underwater gladiators ride atop giant seahorses, laser equipped sharks, or even draconic leviathans.
The movie looks HUGE and the action scenes are …

While not best superhero movies of all time, but for DC shake, it's the best movie behind 'Wonder Women'.
Jason Momoa and Amber Heard are both enjoyable and bring a dynamic chemistry into their characters. They honestly carry this movie.
James Wan direction is the strongest part of the movie. The action scenes is thrilling and exciting with the camera sweeping across the actions scenes - never missing a punch, kick, and blast. Wan proves his one of the best filmmakers of all time, not just for horror, but for action as well.
Patrick Wilson plays an interesting villain with a sibling rivalry with Aquaman, but Wilson makes him stand out from being bland. Also, Willem Dafoe riding a shark is something special.
Some of the …
