When a mutant lizard attacks New York City, Dr. Niko Tatopoulos (Matthew Broderick) tries to study the creature and learn how to stop it in the American re-imagining of “Godzilla.”
From the director of “Independence Day” and later “The Patriot” comes Roland Emmerich’s vision of a monster from a movie series he doesn’t even like. What’s more is the studio let him do whatever he wanted with it, thus enraging fans and even non-fans of the original Japanese films.
It’s amazing that some people consider this his best movie when even if they’re right that’s a really bad sign. All of the characters are generic stereotypes, the logic makes no sense, and most importantly, it has a stupid message that seems completely out of place.
