Gloriously over-the-top with Tom Hardy fully taking charge - and upping the antics to almost-too-crazy, Venom is a lot of fun - but also feels like it is a near parody of the superhero genre. I wish there was a bit more spark with the supporting cast - Riz Ahmed plays an evil version of Elon Musk while Michelle Williams is mostly going through the motions - but, there was a great Woody Harrelson cameo that gives me hope for an even crazier sequel out there. Even if this never meshes with the current MCU, Venom can stand on its own - providing you're not looking for something serious.

Featuring the highest levels of incompetence and incoherency I've seen since "Suicide Squad," as well as the most humiliating performance of Tom Hardy's career, "Venom" is an appalling mess that functions better as a remake of the 1984 Steve Martin comedy "All of Me" than a Marvel anti-hero saga.

"I am Venom. And you are mine." This is not a superhero movie or a anti-hero film. This is a love story. It's funny how Tom Hardy has more chemistry with himself than he dose with Michelle Williams. 'Venom' is an absolutely mess of a movie, but there's never a dull moment. The acting from everyone is really bad and the action scenes are poorly filmed. Still, it's fascinating to see a movie that's so all over the place with talented people involved. Hardy climbing into a fish tank is a remarkable sight. We are Venom? More like we want money.
