Too many flashbacks and fade wipes, as simple editing tricks would've done the job. The entire movie is totally ridiculous, yet a guilty pleasure of mine. There's a lot of thrilling sequences that kept me interested and also some memorable deaths scenes which stuck with me for years. But still, I can't believe John Carpenter made this, until I saw 'The Ward'.

All of John Carpenter's work had its strengths and weaknesses. This, however involves hopeless dialogue, dismal characterisation, laughable plotting and zero suspense. It's a typical Carpenter film, but with all the things that made them good removed. Dire.

In the same vein of Carpenters other B-grade action movies, except this one is not fun.

I've come to the conclusion that any film with Mars in the title, that isn't a comedy, is bound to disappoint. John Carpenter makes another slide downhill with this mess of an action/horror hybrid. The cast doesn't help matters either.

Ghost of Mars is a film that doesn't scare or entertain. John Carpenter seems like he's trying to update his own film, Assault On Precinct 13. The movie is poorly directed by John Carpenter and poorly written by him as well. Natasha Henstridge is good in the lead role. but, Ice Cube is bad as the prisoner that they are sent to recover, his constant one liners and usage of words that he can barely pronounce, get annoying fast. The story isn't interesting, the movie is not scary and the "ghost" make up is badly done.
