Every single frame is a work of art and the romance that develops between the artist and her muse is mostly devoid of eroticism, which is a major difference between this film and others that follow a similar narrative path. "Portrait of a Lady on Fire" smartly compares and contrasts femininity in the 1700s with modern feminist values.
