As a frustrated filmmaker/visual artist, this came up to be an inspiring film to me. I feel like there's a genuine and honest element to the film despite having a typical dreamer storyline.

Despite a thunder cloud of a performance from Tracee Ellis Ross, "The High Note" is an inert musical that has absolutely nothing on "A Star is Born."
