That's tough because they both leave you with two completley different feeling, Rocky leaving you feeling uplifted and triumphant, whereas the Wrestler left me cold and bummed. I would actually go with the Wretler overall, though

I loved both movies and as much as I like Mickey Rourke I liked Rocky better. I found Rocky a little more redeeming.

I aodred the Wrestler and I left the cinema with a feeling i don't often get. One of complete satisfaction. Rourke's performance was that there wasn't a performance. With a camera that close to your face, it takes a skill and discipline to act natural, and to not see that camera. That's the genious of his role here. Randy 'The Ram' becomes so very real because Rourke somehow behaves as he would in the real world. And that surely can not be easy to do infront a crew.

Rourke played a character...Penn was just pushing an agenda.

Bur Rourke wasn't playing any actor - he was merely playing himself. Penn was actually acting. I still think Pitt did the best out of all them.

In my opinion the Wrestler is good, not great. I think Slumdog Millionaire is the best nominee for the Oscar pictures. I am also biased towards Let the Right One In because it recreated the vamp-flick and stays with you longer than the Wrestler. However, if there is any justice left in the universe then M.Rourke will win Best Actor- he was absolutely phenomenal.
Wrestler, The (2008)3/43/4 starsAction: 3/3 + Comedy: 0.5/2 + Good vs Evil: 1/1 + Love/Sex: 1/1 + Special Effects: 1/1 + Plot: 1/1 + Music: 1/1 = 8.5/10 or 85%.Mickey Rourke is absolutely phenomenal in the lead and it will be a travesty if he doesn't get nominated and win the best actor oscar for 2008. Aronofsky has improved though the actors and the concept of the movie nearly overwhelm him at the end. Regardless, the Wrestler is a story of wasted redemption that stays with you and reminds one how harsh life is when one is no longer in the spotlight.view review +

Will this get nominated for an Oscar? I am surprised it was not for Globe. What movie is better than this one?

At least the Trailer is finally out. It looks very average from what I saw. Same old story. Is there any interesting story telling element or is it a standard drama? Nathalie, I know you saw it as well.
