The Last Jedi Review

So I've seen it, the latest Star Wars movie in the franchise, Episode VIII, also known as "The Last Jedi". What can I say about "The Last Jedi"? I'm glad to say that I enjoyed the movie very much, it was probably the best Star Wars film since "Empire", though that does not mean that problems are absent in this film. It isn't a remake of the former, though it does inject varied doses of throwbacks, plus some plot elements are taken directly from it and "Return of the Jedi". The visuals are great, there is plenty of action to be enjoyed and the story keeps you interested all along. Disclaimer: With this review I wanna express my thoughts regarding some aspects of the film, and to that I have to get into spoiler territory. Usually I try to keep my reviews as spoiler-free as possible, but there several plot elements that I want to discuss, so proceed with caution.
Like I said, the visuals in this film are stunning. The effects are simply breathtaking, that is what state-of-the-art CGI looks like. The action pieces, though a little too many for taste, looked incredible, especially the space battle sequences. The effects team, set and costume designers did a pretty good job. It was also great to hear John Williams' score again, with many new interesting tunes while also using properly the classic ones. Director Rian Johnson manages to create a very refreshing vision of Star Wars, exploring the material in new and exciting ways.
