Director Kaufman takes a more visceral approach to remaking the paranoid sci-fi gem. The leafy visuals he crafts work, for the most part, resulting in a film that isn't as intensely scary as it is generally unsettling. The spiraling invasion is done well and the film builds and builds into a catastrophic finale.
