Signs

I forget the greatness of this movie sometimes. The more I watch it, the more I am impressed with Shyamalan's script, camera work, and influence from such legends like Alfred Hitchcock. This film is not your typical frightfest. In fact, the villains are fully revealed toward the end, which made it all the more effective because the audience cannot stop but wonder how the enemies look like. I admire how this movie is not just about suspense. It's about loss, family, faith, sacrfices, and self-preservation. Somehow, Shyamalan managed to balance all of that. Another factor I must mention is the soundtrack. It's very distinct and old-fashioned; I can't help but notice it whenever a scene is happening. It's unique and must be appreciated. In many ways, I thought "Signs" is as good or better than "The Sixth Sense." I wish Shyamalan would make more films like this instead of movies like "Lady in the Water" and "The Village."
