The Plot of Armageddon: While fixing a satellite in orbit, the Space Shuttle Atlantis is destroyed by a meteor shower, killing the entire team. Meteorites then bombard New York City and several other parts of the world, and NASA discovers that an asteroid named Dottie, named after Karl wife Dottie. Dottie is the size of Texas, and is travelling at 22,000 miles per hour; it will collide with Earth in 18 days, effectively destroying the planet. The scientists at NASA are cooperating with the Russian space station to watch meteor, and plan how to detonate a nuclear bomb in the Dottie’s core which will split it in two, and cause it to miss the Earth. However, the bombs must be planted at least 800 feet below the surface within eight hours of landing, before it impacts Earth. The mission is not revealed to the public for fearing a panic. Armageddon
Why was the main character likeable or not likable? Bruce Willis plays Harry Stamper. Harry Stamper is a very likeable character because he has two sides a fun humour’s side and a serious side so it all makes the movie fun to watch. Ben Affleck plays A.J. Frost. A.J. Frost is another likable character because Ben Affleck also puts humour in his in his character. A lot of the other main characters are really likeable as well.
What made the actors convincing or Unconvincing? The movie had a great line up of actors, some of the main actor’s included Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Billy Bob Thornton and Liv Tyler. All these actors made the movie enjoyable to watch, and they made their characters very convincing because there passion for acting came out in the movie and made what was going on convincing.
Which Conversation or dialogue did you enjoy the most? Why?
I really enjoyed three conversations and they are listed below.
I really enjoyed when the Carl sees an explosion in space and rings NASA to tell them what he saw and if he could name her. This conversation was one on many that I really enjoyed. I enjoyed this one because it is just really funny even though it has none of the main characters in it.
Karl – The person that finds her gets to name her, right?
Truman – Yes, that’s Right.
Karl – I wanna name her Dottie, after my wife. She’s a vicious life-sucking bitch from which there’s no escape.
Truman – That’s sweet Karl.
(Scene 4)
I enjoyed this conversation between Lev and A.J when they are stuck on the asteroid and they come to the grand canyon of the asteroid because it’s funny.
A.J –Lev, do you see anything?
Lev- No.
A.J – well keep going I’m not giving up.
Lev- oh, boy.
A.J- this is great. We just happen to run into the Grand Canyon on the asteroid?
Lev- I told you, you took a wrong way, a wrong road.
A.J – what –what road? Do you see any roads around here?
Lev- you know what? I do not have much pleasure being near god’s ear. But you think this is looking good, or what?
A.J- Lev, why don’t’ you just do humanity a favour and just shut the hell up?...Have you ever heard of Evel Knievel?
Lev – No, I never saw star wars.
(Scene 23)
This last conversation I liked, because it was another funny one that i can always remember after watching this movie.
Sharp-you don’t know the components!
Lev- components, American components, Russian components. All made in Taiwan!
(Scene 29)
How Predictable or unpredictable was the plot?
This movie is a little predicable in some areas but it isn’t as predictable as some movies. The ending was very unpredictable and I didn’t see it coming.
Which were your Favourite scenes? Why?
There were a lot of great scenes in this movie. My favourite scenes in this movie but I think would be scene 27 28 and a bit of 29 there more sad than good but over all they are fantastic and one of the best parts of the movie when everything comes to a end for certain characters.
Would you recommend this movie? Why?
This movie is one of my all time favourites. So I highly recommend this movie to anyone that loves movies about the end of the earth or Bruce Willis because this is one of his best rolls. Armageddon is an action packed adventure that will have on the edge of your seat forgetting to breathe!
