Our Daily Free Stream: Sergio Leone - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.

Westerns don't get better than this.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is my favorite Western of all time. It has so much to love, that you forget there was a world based on laws. It's just thrilling scene by thrilling scene, and is always a pleasure to watch.
The acting is fantastic. Eli Wallach displays an almost tongue-in-cheek humor as the vicious, pitiless bandit Tuco. Blondie! I kill you!
Clint Eastwood continues his charade as the Man with no name, and he's fine with me. As a cowboy, he passes it off very well.
The characters interact very cleverly with one another. It seems like there is an electric static in the air whenever Tuco and Angel Eyes talk, or they are on the verge of shooting. Just looking at each other, these actors are scary. That is how you build suspense and mysterious characters. Great dialogue …

The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly review

Brilliant, brutal, exciting, haunting. These are a few words that describe Sergio Leone's 1966 masterpiece. This film is without a doubt, unquestionably, and undeniably one of the finest achievements by a director in the history of not only the western genre, but all cinema as well. Characterized by it's long takes, gorgeous landscapes, interesting characters and faces, a brilliant score by ennio morricone, and an unforgettable performance from the great Eli Wallach (The Ugly). The good, the bad, and the ugly is perhaps one of the greatest final installments to a trilogy in the history of trilogies. The Cemetery scene alone will have you in tears out of just pure brilliance and style. The ending will have you angry! Excited! Exhilarated! All at the same time! At 2 hours and 58 minutes …

"The Good, The Bad And The Ugly" by Yojimbo

The final part of "the man with no name" trilogy sees Clint competing with his erstwhile partner and a coldly vicious mercenary for some buried stolen loot. The remarkable thing about Leone's series is the fact that even the best film trilogies (ie The Godfather, the original Star Wars et al) good as they were, never quite captured the magic of the original. Leone's however began brilliantly, and just kept getting better. The trio are introduced in highly effective opening scenes once again, often using only eye contact and body language to convey their personalities; it's actually 10 full minutes into the film before a single syllable is uttered. Leone continues the theme of the old west as an environment of "every man for himself" as the characters are constantly backstabbing and lying …

Old,slow, over the top but still great

Old? Yes. Slow? Very. Over the top? Yes. Great? Hardly gets any greater.
The Good, the bad and the Ugly is film about three characters based on fortune hunters of americas west in the time of American civil war. Situation can hardly be harder. And these three characters fit it. They are all cheaters but there is difference between them. Good has more morality than other two, but in these condictions he is law to himself. Ugly is not really "evil" but he is crook who does cruel things when he has to(and he isnt very smart). Evil is evil. He has absolutley no morality. He kills and cheats everyone.
These three find out about big sum of money in gold buried in cemetery. Hunt starts. They all want gold and are ready to risk their lives. This i think is very historicaly accurate. They lived …

Civil War, gold is up for grabs, and three dirty cowboys all want it. Seems like a regular Western. It's a good thing film-directing God Sergio Leone and cowboy-extraordinaire Clint Eastwood paired up, because in that genre, there isn't a better match. To this day, there hasn't been a movie that comes close to the depth and craft that his movie produces. It's a beautifully woven-together piece of cinema that Sergio knows what to do with. He creates a feeling of both intensity and humor by portraying the three key characters with one trait only; The Good (Clint Eastwood), The Bad (Lee Van Cleef), and The Ugly (Eli Wallach). These characters follow their own instincts, whether it be good or bad, and let nothing stand in their way of recovering the gold. The only problem is, they have to …

Simple and yet so profound.

The Last of the trilogy in what are now called the Spaghetti Westerns (named so because they were produced by Italian film companies and their subject matter takes place completely in the USA). This is the final film in the "Man with no name" series. The film itself has a great story, and the musical score is probably one of the best known film themes from any Western movie.
The script is quite different from other westerns too: it's not just about revenge or save a city from bad guys, the story leans over deeper human feelings: greed, friendship, national pride. The characters are far more intricate than in other westerns I've seen, you never know what really motivates them and, which is to me the best: the Good guy isn't always good, the Bad guy isn't as bad as you could imagine, and …

Good story, Bad ass gunslingers and an Ugly war
Josh C - wrote on 08/12/2007
I was pleasantly surprised by this film. I am usually not a big Western fan, but this movie had a lot of great things going for it. The story wasn't just a about 3 professional gunmen, it was about friendship, loyalty and war. The civil war aspect of the movie kept things very interesting and you never knew what was going to happen. Even though we had three gunslingers that all seemed a little super-human, they kept getting into situations that they couldn't control.
Another part I loved about this movie was the film score. It really helped control the mood and tempo of the movie. Many movies do this, but not too many of them do it this effectively.
As for acting and characters I couldn't help but think that Tuca's character who was played by Eli Wallach was way ahead of its …
