Plot: Frank Galvin (Paul Newman) in an Oscar-nominated role, is an alcoholic, ambulance-chasing, washed-up attorney. Picking up a medical malpractice suit that is gifted to him by a fellow attorney (Jack Warden), he goes against a high-powered law firm and takes it to court rather than settle, redeeming himself along the way.

Newman shines in one of his best roles as an alcoholic lawyer. The film actually stays true to the wonderful novel. Just magnificent to watch.
