My 500 review on film club. Hopeless romantic Tom is thrown for a loop when his girlfriend Summer announces that love doesn't exist and dumps him. Going over the 500 days they shared together, Tom tries to figure out what went wrong and in doing so, rediscovers true passion. Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt was incredible in this movie and the movie never felt flat or dull.

(500) Days of Summer effortlessly establishes itself as one of the most entertaining and flat-out original romantic comedies to come around in quite some time.

Wenn wir verlassen werden, versuchen wir, die ganze Beziehung von hinten aufzurollen. Wir setzen ein am Ende, tasten uns dann langsam zu den glücklichen Tagen vor. Man sagt das immer so leicht, doch besser am Anfang zu beginnen. Doch in dem Moment ist uns das gar nicht bewusst (dass wir uns an einem Anfang befinden)! So funktioniert 500 Days Of Summer. Das mag nun einige langweilen, wenn das Geschehen hier an Tag 488 einsetzt und sich durcharbeitet zum Tag 2. Aber so funktioniert Film an sich: Hier wird sich vergewissert, dass ein Prozess stattgefunden hat! Eine Handlung. Tom erinnert sich an seine Liebe als Anzahl von Erfolgen und Rückschlägen. Seine Zeit mit Summer. Während eines romantischen Dinners kann ich mir Summer überhaupt nicht vorstellen. Sie sieht Tom auch nie liebevoll …

This movie is an anomaly. (500) Days of Summer is coming at a time when we are all tired of romantic comedy's that are promising to be something new and exciting. This movie was marketed as a romantic comedy which was new and exciting. But that's really the only way to describe this little gem of a movie. Sure it's not without a flaws, but it's difficult to find a romantic comedy(or a movie for that matter) with such a beautiful sense of melancholy, flashes of laugh out loud comedy and a emotional ride from highs to lows which actually effect the viewer.
Tom Hansen (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is our not quite typical lead. Tom is working at his dead end job as a greeting card writer and half aspiring to be an architect, his routine life is one day interrupted by Summer Finn (Zooey …

This film floated into my life at just the right time.
Movies are magic like that. You could be going through a certain something and suddenly find yourself viewing a story strikingly similar to the story you're currently living.. And you feel that spark that has you cackling at certain scenes until you're clapping, and/or tearing up at other moments (as much as you try to hide it.)
Of course, as "touched" as I was by it, I am aware that this type of connection had to be felt by a countless amount of folks when THEY first saw it.
For me it was spot on.
My sappiness aside, this is a cleverly crafted film. Everything including the editing, soundtrack (You just can't go wrong with The Smiths) color scheme, wardrobe, set design - every detail was well thought out and …
