A great science fiction movie

Despite all the negative press, "John Carter" completely delivers. All of the characters are engaging and likable- a credit to the actors involved. Production wise, the film (especially in Imax 3D) is a complete knockout from the special effects to the cinematography to the smoothly edited action sequences. In fact, my only real complaint is that some of the action sequences are a bit too short- they are excellent, but could have gone on longer. The story actually has some emotional punch, especially a terrific scene when John Carter thinks back on burying his first wife in the middle of a battle. Finally, this is a very mild PG-13, and is fine for kids 8 and up.
