Man of Steel "Steals" the Show

Man of Steel was a good quality movie. True, it was predictable. But let's face it, most superhero movies are. With a movie in a franchise as big as the Superman one, you can't win. Make it too like the comic book and people will be disappointed with the lack of variety in the movies. Vary the movie too much from the comic book and people will feel betrayed that their beloved comic book movie isn't exactly the same as their beloved comic book.
All in all the movie was great. The acting was sublime from all the cast, with the possible, very debatable exception of Michael Shannon. I particularly liked Amy Adam's performance as Lois Lane, as it strayed away from the stereotypical damsel-in-distress view people have of her, and made her more independent and a more likable character.
Henry Cavill also delivered a sublime performance. He looked the part, and made the character fell more human than alien which I liked.
I thought General Zod was a reasonably acceptable first-movie villain, in what i hope to be a trilogy. But in order for this set of movies to stand out we will need to see a more engaging, realistic villain soon, such as Lex Luther.
I know he has been overused but that is only because he is such a good villain.
The structure of the movie was the only thing I had a problem with. It felt like there was a beggining, and an end and the middle section was taken up by more fight scenes and explosions than were necessary.
Overall though I think it was a strong movie, with a good plot, great acting and a fantastic directing/producing team. I would highly recommend it.
