This fantasy-comedy is not very good. Zachary Levi makes for an amiable enough man-child protagonist a la Will Ferrell in 'ELF'. Which makes it a bit more amusing that Zooey Deschanel is also in this movie. But it's simply not that funny and it is trying too hard to be schmaltzy. The visual effects work is perfectly fine and doesn't look cheap.
