There Will Be Satisfaction

There Will Be Blood is Paul Thomas Anderson's tour de force masterpiece about Oil Harvesting in the early 1900's based on Upton Sinclair's classic novel "Oil!". The film is about how greed and corruption build up and at the same time tear down Daniel Plainview (played by Daniel Day Lewis who gives a legendary performance in the Film). The film deals with typical film motifs, like greed, betrayal, corruption and faith, but does so in a way that is somehow eerily realistic, and relevant to the times. It also is packed with explosive performances from the likes of Daniel Day-Lewis as aforementioned and Paul Dano (Juno, Girl Next Door) and a script thats only true flaw is that it's too long. The music by Radiohead member Johnny Greenwood is not only superb, but it truly sets the tone of an Upton Sinclair story, and executed expertly by Paul Thomas Anderson. 4/4
