One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Review - One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)

In order to decide whether or not Randale Patrick McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) was insane, he was put in a mental institute to be studied. Now, with the help of his newfound friends, he is attempting to take down the dictating Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher) in the Best Picture winning film, "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest."

I think one of the best things in this film is the character development. You don’t learn about characters simply by watching, but rather through understanding. Throughout the film you too wonder on the sanity of McMurphy. I figure that this movie is where Jack first started his “creepy guy” typecast.

Everybody in this movie gives a stunning performance. Danny DeVito (as Martini), Christopher Lloyd (as Taber), Scatman Crothers (as Orderly Turkle), and Brad Dourif (as Billy Bibbit) all are excellent, along with the rest of the cast.

The music, the cinematography, the story, everything works together beautifully. “One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest” is truly one of the best films ever made, and should not be missed.
