Kramer vs. Kramer review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 09/01/12
Definitely one of the best movies about matrimonial discord and self assessment. From the leads conflicts, courtroom scenes up-to the touching conclusion, this film shines. Ted Kramer (Dustin Hoffman) is a focused workaholic married to Joanna (Meryl Streep). Joanna leaves Ted and their son Billy (Justin Henry). A legal custody ensues while Ted becomes a responsible father. Performances and screenplay was realistic. One of the really good quotes: Joanna - "I'm not taking him with me. I'm no good for him. I'm terrible with him. I have no patience. He's better off without me." Ted - "But I wasn't listening. I was too busy, too wrapped up... just thinking about myself. And I thought that anytime I was happy, she was happy. But I think underneath she was very sad. Mommy stayed here longer than she wanted because she loves you so much. And the reason why Mommy couldn't stay anymore... was because she couldn't stand me." Soundtrack, pacing and direction were superb. Flawless and re-watchable because of the endearing performances from Hoffman, Streep and Henry. Kramer vs. Kramer is a powerful and memorable entertaining drama which touches the subjects of marital issues, transformation, sacrifices and real familial love.
