As an exercise in art filmmaking and finding meaning in everyday human activity, this film is interesting to watch. However, you get the point after the first hour or so. I'm glad I watched it (although, to be honest, it served as background noise some of the time - three and a half hours of nothing gets tedious) to understand a certain aspect of filmmaking, but it's definitely not a film I would say I enjoyed or would attempt to watch again.

This is a truely beautiful, quiet, wonderful and moving movie and a masterpiece of cinema in every regard. Wonderfully shot, realistically acted. Seyrig is great and Akerman wonderfully portrays her everyday life and the stuff she goes through. Unlike the other reviewer, i didnt find this movie boring at all and it kept my concentration all the 3,5 hours. Hollywood "classic" movies bore me, not wonderful art cinema.

While Chantal Akerman has been lauded for this "masterpiece", I am not fond of it. Basically it is around four hours and has about 7 minutes of dialog. Do we really want to see Delphine Seyrig bake a cake and iron shirts in real time? However, the meaningful conversations she has with her son make it almost worth it.
