They was a spoof of Julia child in the movie that was pretty damn funny and why is this so important because that is the best part in the movie and you may disagree with me but I don't care.

Julie & Julia is a mostly average film, but the reason I rate it so high is because it is teeming with the joy of life. Bolstered by a brilliant lead performance from Meryl Streep, but also by Amy Adams who does a lot with very little, the film manages the capture the spirit of these women. Sweet, charming, well-done, and entertaining, J&J is a film I'd recommend to anyone and everyone.

I found the Amy Adams portions a little flatter than the Meryl Streep scenes, but the film is light-hearted and inspiring throughout. Streep creates, as expected, a wholly-involving personification of the famous chef and the film draws life from what could have been a rather boring concept.

It's a combination of two types of films. On one hand you have a bland chick movie and the other you a biography. The biography portions are better, but only slightly. Meryl Streep pretty much makes the whole thing worth watching, with her performance (or scarily good impression) of Julia Child.

The only reason I couldn't bring myself to give this 4 stars was because Amy Adams' part was so lame. The movie could have been one of the best I had ever seen had it not involved those parts whatsoever. It would be brilliant to have an entire two hours of stunning Meryl Streep as Julia at the time she was living in France with her absolutely precious husband, Paul. They were such a romantic couple! This Julie person did a very smart and brave thing to cook through a French cook book, and it is a lovely story and you can look past Amy Adams (right at that cute guy that plays her husband) and enjoy this movie for the well done history of it.

I enjoyed the Julia scenes, but the Julies--not so much. Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci, as the Childs, make a nice and endearing couple. Jane Lynch, as Julia Child's sister, and Meryl are even better. The best scene in the movie is in the restaurant, when Julia and her sister catch up.

Meryl can't save this film merely because half of it is about Julie, a whiny, unlikeable character played by the usually charming Amy Adams. You just want to smack this girl. I skipped all of the Julie as I got towards the end. Streep and Stanley Tucci (and Jane Lynch, who always deserves more screen time) are fun and flawless, but this just highlights how crap the rest of the movie is.

A nice, sweet movie - Meryl Streep puts in a great performance and Amy Adams does a decent job keeping up. Heck, made me even thing I could cook and that's worth something.

A strong movie that tells two stories - one of Julie Powell who, needing direction in her life, decides to cook all the recipes in Julia Child's famous cookbook and blog about it, and the other of Julia Child creating the cookbook itself, though it delves pretty deep into Child's life at the time. Both stories are entertaining enough, but the greatest part of this movie is, of course, Meryl Streep's performance, as once again we see the greatest living actress embody the role of Julia Child so effectively that you forget you're watching Streep. It's hard to imagine this movie working out at all without her in the role, and all the praise and awards and nominations she gets are 100% deserved.
