"The Living Daylights" recalls the more realistic films from the Sean Connery period of the franchise. The coherency is a bit of a mess, but the exceptionally smooth Timothy Dalton and intricate plot keep the movie firmly grounded.

Dalton does a descent job as Bond and it's a mostly solid first outing for him. There's some good action to make up for the last film, but not enough of everything else.

If you prefer your Bond action-packed and less cheery, Timothy Dalton is your man. While I appreciate the effort, I can't quite get into the spirit of this one - the lackluster villains don't help any. Decent but by no means one of my favorites.

Timothy Dalton is an underrated Bond. He's not as smooth as Connery, but he's a better action actor. The movie, contrary to popular belief, is better than it's given credit for.

Timothy Dalton stars in his first and best turn as James Bond. John Rhys-Davies is also excellent in this one. It introduced me to the Mujhadin of Afghanistan and the idea that not all Soviets were evil in Bond films.
