DeKnight's followup to the 2013 cult favorite 'Pacific Rim' is a frantically paced but shallow sequel. The cast is okay but the stakes seem less important than in the original film. The visual effects are competent but lack the polish and grandeur of Guillermo Del Toro's signature style.
