Steampunk engineered at its most inviolable, employing silhouette animation and industrial backdrops to create an archaic yet unique ocular experience that perfectly exploits the gothic premise it is inspired by. Popcorn-stuffed dullards that regard the 'League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' film a misundersood cult classic will find too much depth in Lucas' Victorian-era homage. It is a rare design of machine aesthetic and classic narrative told with minimal distraction and commercial pandering, boasting more thoughtfulness and creativity in a single frame than 'Van Helsing' had in its entire duration.
