Pretty damn effective. Finally, got to experience that classic story of a movie that made people talk back to the screen and scream at the top of their lungs. Still does not suspend disbelief or engage quite like the easily comparable Blair Witch Project, but that's probably just because my personality is closer to the people in that film as opposed to the couple in Paranormal Activity. It's actually much more scary now that I'm by myself at night. With each passing night I've liked a bit more. Also with each passing night I'm liking the like the 5 seconds of the film less and less.
