Get your patchouli stink outta my store!

My first thought about this movie is that it's a great movie to watch when you're pissed off. Basically, the movie is one long moan and groan session, and they say misery loves company. Especially if you're pissed off at girls, but that's a whole different tangent we don't have time for. Apparently some people may not appreciate the male-centric point of view. The sad truth is that this movie is about a guy's dating history narrated BY THE GUY... it's not going to be an unbiased look at each sex's role in a relationship. It's like going to see Die Hard and then complaining about gun fights while you eat an orange and then complain about how your produce can't store very many MP3's. It doesn't make it a BAD movie, just like that doesn't make it a BAD orange.
I love the parts where John Cusack is talking to the audience, presenting his view on things. The way he talks to you makes you think that this is seriously the kind of stuff that goes through people's brains.
So many of the other characters are so great, too. The two people that work at the store aside from John Cusack are great as polar opposites. Todd Louiso plays the quiet, unassuming guy that knows a lot about music and Jack Black plays the loud, obnoxious music know-it-all that literally hates you because you actually like Linkin Park or something. It totally makes the used record store a believable place as one of those small shop-around-the-corner places that is probably in every town in the world.
I guess that's my biggest compliment for the movie... it totally seems plausible. Less like you're watching a movie and more like you're watching a documentary put together by some guy that just needed to be mad at girls for a while. And when it's all said and done, there are no magic fixes, but that doesn't mean you can't have a life you enjoy.
