I dislike musicals but I love this movie. I didn't expect a lot from it, let alone be that good, so I was really surprised after the credits started rolling. The songs are upbeat and catchy, the clothes, the lingo, the setting take you back in time, and the story will make you feel good about yourself. I'm glad that it didn't take itself too seriously. Considering all these qualities, I think this musical is better than "Chicago" or even "Moulin Rouge" because of its simplicity. It's one of those movies that I'll buy on DVD because it deserves to be watched multiple times. Lastly, I must give kudos to the actors for giving such heart-warming performances. This movie would not have been the same if one or two of the actors were played by someone else. I hope the Oscars recognize this picture as a serious contender.
