House of Wax

This could've been a typical slasher movie but it ultimately isn't. Sure, there was a killer (or two, or three, or four) but I didn't think the fear factor relied on that. The film depended on how real (and extremely creepy) such people made of wax are. I think the conclusion was also pretty good when the House of Wax started collapsing. It made me wonder how they managed to film that. I still can't get over the fact that Paris Hilton was in this picture. She did a pretty nice job as a shallow blonde (which I assume didn't require much acting chops). Still, the characters are one-dimensional (except Chad Michael Murray, who I think did a nice job with what little he's been given) but at least it's interesting how some of them died. I wouldn't necessarily watch this film just for the fun of it unless I'm watching it with others but it doesn't make it a bad film. If you want a silly escapism, this movie is a good choice.
