The plot does eventually spin out of control, but the visceral style and downward spiraling psychology of the characters manage to keep in sync with it.

Danny Boyle's directorial debut still packs a wicked punch with its pitch black sense of humor and nasty characters. But it's undeniably fun to watch the cast scheming and digging a deeper hole for themselves.

Shallow Grave is a dark comedy and Danny Boyle directed this movie well.

A simple crime story centered on the three main character's change in relationship. It's quick paced and contains moments of tension and black comedy (sometimes together). The violence is believably painful. I liked the score best.
