Don't let the wacky-looking poster fool you. "Something Wild" takes its zany premise seriously while still maintaining status as a comedy, even after a hard tonal turn in its last act.

One of the strangest tonal shifts I've seen for a movie in years. It goes from a wacky road comedy to a surprisingly gripping thriller. All three leads are very good. Ray Liotta is the standout as the violent ex-con (and Melanie Griffith's obsessive husband). Despite the dark turn, there are some solid laughs to be had.

A mix of comedy, crime, and romance that all adds up to something wild indeed. Unpredictably fun.

Looking into Jonathan Demme's other work besides Silence of the Lambs, it is very interesting indeed. There is another movie called Something Wild with Carroll Baker, and let's not confuse the two. The 1986 "Something Wild" is wild indeed. At times too wild. A journey of two people...worth watching.
