Chihiro has to work for this ugly witch lady, (who runs this spa were spirits go to) during the night and the day as well, because her parents both turned into pigs by the evil witch. So now Chihiro has to to work for the witch or else her parents will be pigs forever and she wont get to go home until she has completed her tasks and and has followed her friends orders, in order to go home , save her parents, and let get her new friend to remember his name.

This is my favorite movies of all time. It is at the top of my "Movies I can watch over and over again" list. It is a beautiful movie to watch with a great story, interesting characters and a wonderful score. It won a well deserved Oscar for best animated film in 2002.

Action: 3/3 + Comedy: 1/2 + Good vs Evil: 1/1 + Love/Sex: 1/1 + Special Effects: 1/1 + Plot: 1/1 + Music: 1/1 = 9/10 or 90%. This was one of the best movies from 2002 and though it won the Oscar for best animated film it should have been nominated for a best picture Oscar as well (Chicago won, but did we really need the Hours and The Two Towers along with it?). It also has by far the most memorable action sequence from the year as well, which involves a spirit named Sen who continually offers people gold, but things go terribly wrong when Chihiro allows it a steam bath. Spirited Away is an overall wonder to behold and is a masterpiece of animated family cinema.

Miyazaki is one of the world's greatest animation directors and almost every one of his movies is great. Spirited Away is no exception and it's my third favorite Miyazaki after Princess Mononoke and My Neighbor Totoro.

If you think you just can't get into anime, watch Spirited Away. If it doesn't change your mind, then I guess I have nothing else to offer. Visually stunning, with a great story and memorable characters - there's a reason this won an Oscar
