God I can't stand this movie, or the entire series. I don't know why, but I just can't enjoy these movies.

A classic sci-fi. No matter how many times I watch it, its still enjoyable. For me Harrison Ford steals the show as Han, but that could just be me.

With some enjoyable characters, intense set-pieces and sequences and awesome special-effects; Star Wars is simply a science-fiction classic.

The movie that started it all. George Lucas' world of a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away is first brought to life in this movie. It doesn't usually rate as high as Empire, but this one is still my favorite one out of all 6. Have I mentioned that Han shot first??

Check out the two aliens smoking hookah pipes in the Moe Eisley cantina! This earned "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" a SmokeScreeners rating of 2 Butts. Visit www.smokescreeners.org for more information.

This isn't the best Star Wars movie, it's certainly up there with the best.

"Star Wars: A New Hope" began it all. Therefore, I should have rated it higher, but I'm just as stingy a person as could be expected. Lame, yes, difficult, yes. But in the end, I think its important to remember how incredibly innovative this film was. Starting Harrison Ford on his career and introducing into the world a cult phenomenon. I went to the new edition of this when I was younger and I was entranced, hooked from then on. A great masterpiece of cinematic genius.

Ancient special effects and hokey dialogue drive this magnificent live action cartoon for the little kid in all of us. I remember standing in line with several thousand people waiting on opening day. There were jugglers, street magicians and musicians working the line. It was a magical experience then and it still is today. The new DVD (9/12/06) is comparable to new VHS quality, so there will probably be more releases in the future as George milks this cash cow into infinity. But, who cares? It sure beats the travesty of the "improved" version, and my tapes have seen better days. Enjoy yourself in a galaxy far, far away.

A true classic in movie making. I was memorized by this film when it came out. I'd never seen anything like it. A great adventure complete with memorable, lovable characters.

I was 13 when Star Wars came out (before Lucas's revisionist numbering system), I even first saw this in a drive-in theatre. I now make my living in Hollywood, and this film was a big reason why I just had to be in this industry. Sure the special effects look a little tired now, but this film has withstood the test of time
