The pacing may be a little off, but this Midwestern American odyssey from iconic surrealist David Lynch (of all people) is memorable and tender.

David Lynch's trademark surrealism gets abandoned for a very straight forward story about an old man driving his lawnmower across the U.S. This is somewhat like Forrest Gump at quarter speed and often goes by very, very slowly. I would have liked to see more of Sissy Spacek's character, but the bulk of the movie bored me.

This is a very un David Lynch type movie, so that?s why some may either like it or hate it. It is a little slow at times, and I have difficulty feeling for the old man. His character is not all that well developed before he goes on his way. The one thing that saves this movie is that it is based on a true story.
