It's a sweet story, well-acted by Hanks and Zeta-Jones, and the shotwork by Spielberg is, as usual, impeccable. Have all the parties involved done far more moving, better work? Absolutely, but The Terminal is still a fun film, less flashy and in your face, but still eventually satisfying.

I would use the phrase 'terminally dull', but I've already used a similar phrase to describe 'Crimes and Misdemeanors' and I don't want to repeat myself. Suffice to say, this film is both bland and unremittingly sentimental, and the only thing I could take solace in was Spielberg's always competent direction.

It may be intentionally schmaltzy, but it's not without charm. Hard to buy Hanks as a foreigner. He does give an engaging performance, nonetheless. I enjoyed the comedy very much. The actors sell the cutesy romance to the point where it's not annoying. Entertaining enough.

The Terminal is a 2004 comedy-drama film directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Stanley Tucci. It is about a man trapped in a terminal at JFK International Airport when he is denied entry into the United States and at the same time cannot return to his native country due to a revolution. The film is partially inspired by the 18-year-stay of Mehran Karimi Nasseri in the Charles de Gaulle International Airport. This movie is GREAT. Everything Victor Naborski (Hanks) does/thinks of is hilarious and highly entertaining. Tom Hanks does a wonderful job and Stanley Tucci really is the "guy you love to hate". And how can you dislike a Spielberg movie?

The setting for this movie is what makes it good. By the end, you feel that the airport is it's own little town, with residents like janitors, baggage throwers, etc. You really get the time and chance to see Tom Hank's character adapt to his new environment, and even enjoy it at times. There's a very natural and understandable good vs. evil element with Tom Hanks and the man stopping him from going home. Forget the expections you might have from a cast like this and a director like Spielberg. If you take the movie for what it is, it's quite enjoyable and you end up routing for Hanks in the end. There's even a dash of romance and mystery. An overall good movie definitely worth watching. 3/4

I was expecting a lot more out of the combination of Spielberg and Hanks. Sadly, this film just left me bored most of the time. A good idea, but a tame, underwhelming result. Middle of the road for all involved.

While not bad by any means, and often entertaining, again, I was let down by Spielberg. Hanks did a fine job as well, and Zeta Jones works well with him. The only problem is how this movie does not have any memorable scenes. A fun movie.
