Jason Reitman's lean mean satirical comedy takes on lobbyists, politicians, reporters, and parenting all under 90 minutes w/o breaking a sweat. It's brutally funny and the subject matter remains perfectly topical.

Star-studded, smart, and with a deliciously ambiguous moral compass, 'Thank You For Smoking' is an undervalued cult classic.

I haven't enjoyed a movie this much in a long time. It didn't stick to one particular message, parts of it had a Wes Anderson "strangely too perfect but still mostly realistic" and quirky feel to it and none of it ever seemed forced. Nick Naylor is one of my favorite likable "bad" guys.

An ingenious movie with great characters, funny plot, and a interesting theme. Eckhart performs his character perfectly. A character like Naylor could be ruined with overacting, but that was avoided. He was a believable smooth-talker/bullshiter that had me actually rooting for him. I am an ex-smoker and I truly believe that the war against big-tobacco is unfair and more ridiculous than the tobacco companies themselves. This showed that side of it and, I think, did a very good job of it. It satirizes both sides of the coin, and it truly does show that there are two sides to everything.

Jason Reitman's impressive debut feature showcases his ability to combine sarcastic wit with an intense understanding of human emotion. Aaron Eckhart portrays the sardonic and miserable spokesperson for the tobacco industry who begins to come to terms with his gray morality. The film doesn't try to force an anti-smoking message, though the shady ethics of the industry aren't sugarcoated. Rather, it's a darkly funny and very introspective view into the lives of the people operating behind the scenes of the industry.

Wit so sharp you'll lacerate yourself laughing. "Dad, do I have flexible morals?" Brilliantly skewers DC and LA. Eckhart's performance is one of the smoothest anti-heroes in recollection. "If you argue correctly, you're never wrong."

This movie is about thirty years too late to actually make a difference.

What an excellent premise for a film: take one of the most vile substances on the planet [cigarettes] and slap good ol' Mormon boy Aaron Eckhart's dashing face to it and it becomes a dark comedy worthy of Oscar nods. This movie taught me how to argue properly and proved that the writing was as brilliant as it was hilarious!

biting, clever satire that hits most of its targets precisely; Aaron Eckhart is both charming and sleazy as the mouthpiece lobbyist for tobacco and first time director Reitman does a sensational job of telling a broad story with masterful strokes. Final Grade: B+
