One of my Favorite Horror Films

Chances are you will either love this movie or hate it - depending on whether or not it actually scares you. It certainly worked for me, and I found it to be one of the scariest horror movies I've ever watched. Maybe I liked it so much because I saw the movie in a dark theatre, almost alone, late at night.
The movie excels at a well-proven but little-followed horror tactic: something is a lot scarier if you never really get a good look at it. The truly terrifying parts of the movie (if this movie works for you) happen off screen - in your head. The sound work is also masterfully done. The chirps the creatures make can send shivers down your spine.
A note about an extra feature on the DVD - the alternate ending is fantastic.
