It's certainly not the subtlest commentary, but "They Live" is interestingly and entertainingly done.

Slick direction by John Carpenter and clever social commentary help set this cult scifi flick well ahead of the curve.

Ah, this movie is so good. I wasn't one of the lucky people that got to see it growing up, actually I just finished watching it a few minutes ago and I have to say I am impressed. The movie is every bit as old as I am, but it still manages to be entertaining and does send a good message, or at the very least sends A MESSAGE even in 2012. With stars like Roddy Piper and Keith David this movie has to be good and I stand by saying that it's one of the only "B" movies I can actually stomach, well this and "The Blob". I give it 3 out of 4 stars.

Doesn't explore the political themes it hints at very well, but, as a low-budget sci-fi film, it is effective and genuinely creepy. Plays like an extra-violent episode of the Twilight Zone. Also, the fight scene between Keith David and Rowdy Roddy Piper is one of the most brutal and extended fist fights ever.

Subversive, humerous and with enough action to keep fists pumping, They Live is a film that's hard to take seriously, but has a good message to get across. You just may never look at the world the same way again.
