Three Colors: Red review

One of the most underrated provocative French drama's produced. The film focuses on Valentine (Irène Jacob), a university student and part-time model. She accidentally hits Rita, a dog, and returns it to its owner a rude retired judge, Joseph Kern (Jean-Louis Trintignant). Kern divulges his pastime of prying over his neighbors conversations. A subplot ensues between Auguste, and his girlfriend, Karin (Frederique Feder). An unexpected strong storm brings the characters of the previous films (Blue and White) together again.
A wonderful picture about resentments, unhappiness, loneliness, long distance communication, friendship, cheating, fate, intertwining of personalities and relationships. Out of the three, this had the best direction, cinematography, pacing and screenplay …
