"Toys" has whimsical potential that it sadly never meets.

When an eccentric toymaker dies he leaves the company to his son - but not the right one. A military-minded general begins making war toys, which was always against company policy, and worse - weapons. Luckily his much more toy-minded brother, along with some former employees, band together to stop his madness. This movie could be fun and watchable but it's a same that the movie fell on it's face and failed.

this movie is too weird for its own good. Joan Cusack is interesting in this though and I do love to watch her.

Guess what's not a funny movie? That's right, Robin Willams' opus "Toys," in which he stars with such comedic trail-blazers as LL Cool J and the always effervescent Joan Cusack, who, surprisingly, are not funny. Now let's get past the unfunniness for a moment. Willams et al fight the bad toys (tanks, planes, whatever) with good toys. Want to know how? By making the good toys fight. What a lovely idea. Let's recap. LL Cool J: not funny. Joan Cusack: lucky to be John's sister. Robin Williams: get back on "it." You know what I'm talking about. Just trust me. And finally, LL Cool J, not funny. Let me repeat.. LL Cool J... Not funny..

For a film that's supposed to be magical and funny, it manages to mess both up and just be glaringly bad. How do you fight war toys? Oh, lets start a toy war! How imaginative. Gets points for style, but not much else.
