Foul and morally bankrupt, but these are the things that make "Training Day" anything but ordinary.

If you thought this movie is good, you should see the director's other project with Christian Bale - Harsh Times. This movie isn't as good as that one but follows a similar tale of naivety being lost in the hard street by a cop when exposed to corruption.

Denzel Washington is electric in every frame of this gritty cop drama as the villainous and commanding training officer who breaks in Ethan Hawke. The film thrives off the tense scenes between Washington and Hawke and presents some interesting questions about questionable morality.

Two LAPD narcotics detectives roam LA. Detective Alonzo Harris (Washington) is a veteran cop teaching Jake Hoyt (Hawke) the ropes. The theme of an indecent officer, corruption and moral ethics were portrayed by the characters. Denzel Washington was electrifying in a rare role while Ethan Hawke was sincere with his character. The style of the filming was authentic. Training Day is a good dramatic crime film which is entertaining partially, not as a whole.

Wow! Denzel as a bad guy? He does it VERY well. His bad-guy-ness was over the top but it worked. I love him in good guy roles but it was great to see his versatility here. Ethan Hawke was also great - his character's inner conflict really showed through. The death scene at the end of the film was spectacular.

I'm not a big fan of this movie. I don't like seeing Denzel play those kinds of roles.
