Apparently, inventiveness and dynamism are some of the qualities filmmaker Peter Weir will always have in his sleeves. He got the timing completely right for this one: THE TRUMAN SHOW was a witty, enjoyable "dramedy", obviously ahead of its time back in 1998, and it remains as one of the most essential and original cinematic experiences of the nineties. The plot themes offer some food for thought while the film-making itself boasts stunning moments of creativity. Laura Linney (who, unfortunately, wasn't in the running for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination) and Ed Harris shine, and so does the wonderful score by Burkhard Dallwitz and Philip Glass.

This is a perfect film. It really is. It's barely 90 minutes long, yet it has depth, humour, emotion and most importantly great ideas. On its release i saw it 3 times in the space of a week, and during the repeated viewings i found more to love. And i still do each time i've watched it since.

It took me years to finally sit down an watch this movie. I was very well done. Its always fun to see Jim Carey in a dramatic role. He played a somewhat serious character, but still had that awkward goofiness. The movie itself was original and had some great moments.

A fantastic movie with a truly original concept. Jim Carrey gives what could be his best performance and the screenplay is fantastic.

The first time I saw this show I really didn't like it. When it ran on HBO and I saw it about five more times, I really started to enjoy it. It's been awhile and I need to watch it again. Jim Carrey does a great job with his character. It seems that this movie hit right around the big reality t.v craze. It shocks me that we haven't seen a 'real' show like this. This movie was a great five dollar find for our collection.

I love this film. Fantastic performance by Carrey, great score and great script. It already have almost 10 years and it's becoming a classic to me. I really like to think that sometimes we're in our little world, when actually is much more out there.

The concept, I completely love! The execution is actually pretty good. The problem lies that when you see it now, it is no longer a great movie nor a great concept. This may be Carrey's best performance though. Everyone should see it once.
