It lacks the razor's edge of satire found in Christopher Guest's best work, but "Waiting for Guffman" is a minor success all the same.

Guest's first mocumentary style improve comedy has some hilarious moments.

Not as laugh-out-loud funny as some of Guest's later films, but the weird small-town world that Guest creates is uniformly quirky and likable. Guest himself is especially a standout with the ambiguously gay theater director Corky St. Clair. Short enough not to overstay its welcome.

Christopher Guest films are certainly not your run-of-the-mill comedies and won't appeal to the masses. Filmed as documentaries, they are clever, funny and well acted. Loved Guest's character, Corky, in this show. We laugh out loud every time we watch it, even though we have it memorized by now.

This is Guest's second best behind Best in Show. It tells you something about the quality of comedy writers today when great actors can improv stuff funnier than the crap they write for stuff like American Pie VII or whatever they're on now.
